San Tan Valley Becomes Arizona’s Newest Town

San Tan Valley officially became Arizona’s newest town and 92nd municipality on Wednesday, September 17. The effort to incorporate goes back to 2005 and finally came to fruition when Pinal County leadership selected the new town’s first-ever council.

Named after the nearby San Tan Mountains, the town is less than 50 miles southeast of downtown Phoenix and lies just beyond the Town of Queen Creek.

The new town council held its first official meeting on October 1, 2025, kicking off the process of turning the community into a fully independent town by July 1, 2026. Daren Schnepf has also been selected as the town’s first mayor.
