American Airlines Launches New Non-Stop DFW-ATH Route

American Airlines has introduced a new direct route between its Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) hub and Athens (ATH), Greece, as part of the airline’s “centennial summer,” expected to bring record-breaking travel moving 75 million customers across 750,000 flights.

American Airlines is scheduled to operate 60 flights between Dallas-Fort Worth and Greece during the month of June, offering more than 18,000 seats, according to Cirium Diio data. The carrier previously announced that the route would be served by its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, an aircraft capable of carrying more than 200 passengers and flying distances exceeding 8,000 miles.

The new service strengthens the connection between North Texas and Greece while further expanding American’s international network. In recent months, the airline became the first U.S. carrier to restore commercial flights to Venezuela and also introduced new routes from its Philadelphia hub to Budapest, Hungary, and Prague.

PDDG’s President and CEO, George Dimotakis, is Greek-American and has overseen multiple tourism asset tours across mainland Greece and numerous Greek islands in recent years. With one of PDDG’s regional offices located in Texas, this new DFW-ATH route adds greater access for the PDDG Team to serve our Greek and European clients.
