UK Creative Industries Contribute £124B to Economy
The UK stands as a global creative powerhouse, renowned for its world-class talent, innovation, and leadership across film, television, music, video games, creative technologies, and more. As a key driver of the nation’s post-pandemic economic recovery, the Creative Industries remain a vital engine of growth, contributing £124 billion in gross value added (GVA) to the UK economy in 2023 and supporting 2.4 million jobs across the country.
The Creative Industries sector includes four world-leading, frontier industries: Advertising and Marketing; Film and TV; Music, Performing, and Visual Arts; and Video Games. In 2025, the UK is also home to five of the top 10 global performing arts institutions: the Royal College of Music ranks highest, with the Royal College of Art and the University of the Arts London each ranked the top 2 for global art and design institutions.
According to the UK Government:
• The UK is second only to the USA for the location and generation of foreign direct investment (FDI) creative projects globally
• The UK is a large film and high-end TV production location, attracting £4.8 billion of film and TV inward investment in 2024
• £32 billion in internet advertising was generated in 2024, making the UK the most digitally mature advertising market in Western Europe
The PDDG UK Office, opened in July 2021, has expanded our agency’s reach in Creative Industries both in the UK and abroad. We are grateful to be a small part of the UK’s growing creative presence worldwide.
