Sacramento State Receives Third Seal of Excelencia Certification

California State University, Sacramento (Sacramento State) has earned certification as an Intentionally Thriving Institution (ITI), the highest level of recognition through Excelencia in Education’s Seal of Excelencia. This marks the university’s third Seal of Excelencia recognition and its first time among just 12 institutions nationwide to achieve ITI certification, recognizing its success in preparing Latino and all students for life after graduation and workforce participation.

One of 21 colleges and universities to earn the Seal in 2026, Sacramento State demonstrates a commitment to student success through inclusive support, financial and workforce readiness opportunities, and guidance throughout the college experience. The university’s approach emphasizes higher education’s role in advancing social mobility, economic vitality, and workforce development.

The Seal of Excelencia recognizes institutions that align data, evidence-based practices, and leadership to improve student outcomes. Although Seal-certified institutions represent less than 2% of colleges and universities nationwide, they enroll 16% and graduate 18% of Latino students. Sacramento State’s continued investment in student success is helping prepare graduates for meaningful careers and civic leadership while strengthening local workforce talent pipelines.

This year marks 40 years of partnership with Sacramento State. From our very first project in 1986 to our ongoing work in 2026, we have seen firsthand the important role the university plays locally and across the state. Additionally, Sacramento State is the alma mater of more than half our current agency team. We look forwarding to sharing university milestones throughout the coming year.
