California Invests Nearly $10M to Expand Career Training
California is investing $9.75 million to expand educational certificate and apprenticeship programs that will strengthen the state’s workforce and prepare workers for high-demand careers. The Employment Development Department (EDD) has selected 10 organizations to lead partnerships with local workforce agencies, community colleges, adult schools, employers, and labor organizations. Together, these collaborations will expand access to industry-recognized certificate programs, registered apprenticeships, work-based learning opportunities, and other career training pathways. The initiative will help prepare Californians for careers in critical industries such as health care, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, forestry, natural resources, and biosciences.
Among the recipient organizations is the Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa County (WDBCCC), a longtime client partner of PDDG. WDBCCC received $1M to expand career training and strengthen access to high-quality jobs in Contra Costa and Alameda counties.
